DBS Global University recently hosted the Uttarakhand Bird Count 2025, bringing together students, faculty, naturalists, and local birding enthusiasts for an early morning exploration of the region’s wildlife.
The areas surrounding the campus turned into a lively field station as participants identified bird calls, spotted rare species, and learned about the unique ecosystems that thrive across Dehradun.
The activity helped students understand how biodiversity shapes the environment they live in. It provided a practical perspective on conservation, field documentation, and responsible observation. For many, it was their first experience with field guides and birding apps while working alongside experts.
Events like this reinforce the university’s commitment to sustainability and inspire students to remain curious about the natural world. The bird count also supported a larger community effort to record regional species and contribute valuable data to ongoing conservation work.
